Raina Benoit

Raised in the deep South, Raina’s experience with the living past through storytelling and reenactment is extensive. Whether it is through painting, installation, video, performance, creative writing, or sound, her work investigates narrative through a painter’s lens. Raina Benoit, received her BA, from Louisiana State University in Liberal Arts and minored in Creative Writing (1999).  After living and working in New York City she continued her studies at the Atelier des Beaux Arts in Paris, France, where she studied painting, drawing, and experimental video. She completed her MFA (2006) at the University of Arizona where she taught classes ranging from contemporary art/theory, painting, figure drawing, to watercolor. A founding member of Plugged, she has served as grant writer, t-shirt designer, juror, curator, and promoter for Her Shorts International Women’s Video Festival.  Currently she lives in Perdido Bay, Fl and is the University of West Florida Art Gallery Director.

Gina Cestaro

Gina Cestaro, from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, in 1998, and her MFA from the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 2006.  Her conceptually based work is expressed primarily through video, performance and mixed-media sculpture.  Cestaro’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including Mobius Gallery, Boston, USA, Varna City Art Museum, Bulgaria, and Mangere Community Outreach Gallery, New Zealand.  She is a founding member of Plugged Art Collective.

Laura Milkins

Laura Milkins grew up in Pentwater, Michigan, a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan.  She received her MFA at the University of Arizona in 2008, and a Post Baccalaureate in 1996 and a Diploma in 2000 from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  She also received her Bachelors of Arts in 1993 from Kalamazoo College in Michigan.  Since 1993, she has shown her work in Boston, Portland, ME, Grand Rapids, MI and Tucson.  Prior to settling in Arizona, Laura traveled to Europe, Asia and South America, documenting the experience through
email, text and drawings.  Laura has worked in a variety of mediums, from traditional painting and drawing to mattresses and altered books.  Her current work critiques social norms through online, interactive performances.

Alan Skees

Alan Skees was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his BFA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he studied traditional and alternative forms of printmaking, digital arts, design, and a little sculpture and ceramics thrown in just for fun. After graduating UAB, he moved across the country, got married to Kristin, and started graduate school all in one month. While there he studied more alternative forms of printmaking, non-toxic printmaking, book arts, installation art, and other forms of digital image making. He received his MFA degree in 2007 from the University of Arizona. He also taught many classes including 2D color and design, relief/woodblock, and intaglio. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor that teaches Digital Arts, Foundations, Printmaking and New Media at the University of Montevallo. He lives and makes art in Birmingham, Alabama and shows work nationally and internationally.

Kristin Skees

Kristin Smith Skees was born in Minot, North Dakota but raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She received her BFA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, only after changing universities once and her major 5 times. She received her MFA degree in 2007 from the University of Arizona and although she was in the 3-D department she's pretty certain it's only because they didn't know what else to do with her. Her work includes knitted cozies, video installation, digital photography, performance, and mixed-media sculpture. Currently she lives and makes art in Birmingham, Alabama and shows her work nationally and internationally.
